The 2017 Complex Adaptive Systems conference will be held from October 30 – November 1, 2017, at Chicago, Illinois. The theme for the conference will be “Engineering Cyber Physical Systems“. Multi-faceted systems of the future will entail complex logic and reasoning with many levels of reasoning in intricate arrangement. The organization of these systems involves a web of connections and demonstrates self-driven adaptability. They are designed for autonomy and may exhibit emergent behavior that can be visualized. There is need to develop theory, methods, and tools that will allow engineers to manage the increasing complexity in the design and operations of these systems. Our quest continues to handle complexities of engineering future cyber-physical systems. They will impact manufacturing industry, defense, healthcare, energy, transportation, emergency response, agriculture and society overall. The success of future endeavors will be heavily based on how the current challenges related to cybersecurity, interoperability, privacy, safety and socio-technical aspects (mainly the interaction of human behavior and complex adaptive systems), are handled.
Researchers from academia, industry, and the government will meet at the conference to share their findings and expand the boundaries of research in engineering cyber-physical systems and provide their experiences in bringing applied theory into practice that will be leading to an influential transition of the complex adaptive system into systems engineering practice.
